Minimum wage in 2005 was ยฃ5.05 an hour.
A Freddo cost 10p.
One hour of work bought you 50 Freddos.
In 2026, minimum wage is ยฃ12.71 and a Freddo is 39p.
One hour of work now buys you just 32 Freddos.
So despite minimum wage more than doubling, your Freddo buying power has fallen by 36%.
If wages had actually kept pace with Freddo inflation, minimum wage would be ยฃ19.65 an hour today.
Forget economists. Forget politicians.
The Freddo has just delivered the most depressing cost of living graph you'll ever see.
Tim has been a huge asset to our club, especially with fan engagement and improving the match day experience.
I think I speak on behalf of the majority of Widnes supporters when I say that we want him to stay.
@MattR_92@VikingRod@VikingsRevival
The UK economy basically works like this:
Get paid ยฃ2,000.
Give ยฃ900 to a landlord. Give ยฃ200 to the council. Give ยฃ150 to energy companies. Give ยฃ300 to supermarkets. Give ยฃ300 to car insurance and fuel.
Spend the rest surviving until next payday.
Then get lectured by someone who bought their house for ยฃ37,000 in 1988 about how you need to stop buying coffees and cancel subscriptions.
@johnnyddavidson@Poyser90 Put it out now? Buggar the soon part. Youโve made an accusation that our club is in special measures and just left it there. back it up with the facts straight away. Absolute click bait journo. (Awaiting to be blocked btw) โฆโฆ.
If I was on the the board, Iโd be doing everything to try and persuade Tim Holmes to stay. Heโs been hugely influential in helping the club progress in so many different areas and we risk losing the momentum and positivity that heโs brought since joining.
Given the ridiculous volume of Prime Ministers that Britainโs endured in recent years, I think it should now be law that if a PM quits or is forced out during his/her term, it automatically triggers a new general election. That might concentrate their minds to do a better job.
@MartinSLewis Iโve won my council tax band challenge and itโs now being lowered. However Iโve been over paying at this rate for 10 years now and my local council have said theyโll only back date my refund 18 months. Is this legal?
