This morning at Miami’s International Boat Show, I was pleased to announce the new Boater Freedom Initiative. This proposal is designed to protect Floridians’ rights to enjoy boating by preventing local governments from banning the sale or use of boats based on fuel sources. It will also create safety-compliant decals for boats and require probable cause to pull over a boater (instead of “compliance stops”), striking the right balance between enforcing the law and reducing unnecessary disruptions for law-abiding boaters.
Florida takes pride in being the boating and fishing capital of the world. The Free State of Florida should expand boater freedom!
Today, we launched the ‘Discover Boating’ Miami International Boat Show, one of the largest displays of boats in the world. This show attracts tens of thousands of visitors and hosts over 1,000 exhibitors. It is running from today through the 16th of February. Come see the latest in boating and fishing and enjoy our state’s world-class recreational marine activities.
This morning, our dear friend and Chief of Staff, Terry England, was injured in a heavy machinery accident on his farm at home in Barrow County. He is currently receiving treatment from an incredible team of doctors and medical professionals.
Dayle and I ask everyone to join us in lifting up Terry, Mrs. Cindy, all of his family and loved ones, and his doctors in prayer during this time. We also respectfully request privacy for them as they navigate the days ahead.
In partnership with the GA state legislature, NMMA hosted a bicameral committee meeting at the #DiscoverBoatingAtlantaBoatShow, followed by a show tour.
