We’ve lost a giant today.
Michael McKee’s passing is an immeasurable loss for New York’s tenant movement. From the 1970s to today, his brilliance, persistence, and vision shaped every major tenant rights victory in our state.
Michael McKee impacted the lives of countless New Yorkers over decades of visionary organizing for rent stabilization and affordable housing.
He will be deeply missed. But his legacy lives on in the movement he helped lead and victories for tenants to come.
@GastorAlmonte@silkyjumbo Also @silkyjumbo, I’ve got one of those grapefruit spoons too! But I think I sit in the middle of both of you on how to eat an orange. I would cut an orange in quarters (or more), but won’t peel it and eat it like a mandarin, neither cut it just in half and scoop.
@GastorAlmonte@silkyjumbo Speaking of Peppa’s, last time I was at the one on Flatbush, they put my chicken on the counter and I grabbed the sauce bottle to extra sauce my chicken, and everyone in the store stopped and looked at me, the lady said “customers don’t sauce themselves”. Had to apologize+++
@GastorAlmonte@silkyjumbo for consideration for The War Report, the alleged ringleader ran one of the best jerk food trucks in the city (Newburgh), we used to order from there. https://t.co/F302NvvUT4
@twieditz Instead Uber should display this message after each ride:
“$1.07 of your ride went to pay for lobbying of city, provincial and federal governments, lawyers, astroturf efforts and attack ads… all so we can grow at any cost and justify our US$130B market cap.”
So @bchesky@airbnbhelp@airbnb NYC Superhost approved by city (Local Law 18),need someone with top level admin rights to amend my address to add the unit number. Phone support claims no one can do this because I have an upcoming reservation (Dec 1st.)
@Brookland718@ezyjules@InsideAirbnb@AndreyFradkin@sophcalderwang@Airbnb The research showed a disparity in Airbnb use that was harming the Black community who are majority renters (like all New Yorkers). So calling it a paper bag test is like attacking affirmative action for recognising race and disparities.
@ezyjules@Brookland718@InsideAirbnb@AndreyFradkin@sophcalderwang@Airbnb The registration bill passed 42-5. Do you somehow think that this was some back room deal by the hotel industry. Even former Council Member Cornegy voted for it. Whatever you think about his record, he was an Airbnb supporter that voted for it.
