The NYT describes Hezbollah drones "steadily hunting down Israeli soldiers and commanders... with often-lethal strikes" posted in "chilling videos."
Israel has killed 115x more people in Lebanon (3,433 vs. 29) since the start of the war. The drones get "chilling." The 3,433 Lebanese dead don't even get a mention.
If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, bailouts, legal protections, and trade barriers to survive? And when ordinary people ask for help, why is it suddenly called socialism?
The difference between Lebanon and Gaza is that International press has access to Lebanon. And they are showing for all the world to see that Israel is bombing civilian targets where there is no military in sight.
These are war crimes.
On this day in 1830, the US ruling class passed the Indian Removal Act, legalising the ethnic cleansing of Indigenous Americans from their ancestral homelands. Thousands were killed as this crime was carried out. One of the most evil and disgraceful acts in US history.
The internet used to be full of websites; there were millions of them and you could browse for hours and come away smarter rather than dumber. Now there are four sites and they've made half the population illiterate. We've destroyed a wonderful thing, and it has destroyed us.

We’re gonna turn Cuba into a failed narcostate and then complain about it for years. Instead of an island producing a disproportionate share of doctors and medical breakthroughs, it’ll produce waves of migration and drugs and violence as the mafia that was thrown out by the revolution return
It’s a relief to hear the Prime Minister express some moral outrage over Ben-Gvir’s brutish behaviour, outrage which has been missing during Israel’s attack on Iran, bombardment of Lebanon and ongoing genocide in Gaza.
But strong words must be followed by strong action. Sanctioning individual ministers is not enough when this cruelty is mirrored in Israeli state policy. Close the loophole on arms sales, cancel the free trade agreement and use every tool in Canada’s diplomatic arsenal to end Israel’s impunity.
When critics pointed out black-and-white factual errors from the beginning to the end of the NYT’s “Screams Without Words,” one of the most consequential fabrications in the paper’s history, used to justify a genocide, the paper steadfastly refused to address them. Only when video evidence emerged directly contradicting part of it did they offer a soft “update” to the piece.
Note how differently critics of the Kristof piece are treated. Where the original article did not interview a single victim, Kristof spoke to 14, all corroborated in other ways too. The critics do not challenge a single fact, instead they argue that the behavior described is simply impossible, or dogs would never do that, and all the witnesses and victims are biased against Israel and should not be listened to. Not a single honest criticism of what he has reported has been presented that contradicts the facts he laid out.
Yet those critics — who hysterically impugn his character and even in many cases suggest he should be executed — get a polite and respectful reply from the Times. (And in their reply they double down on their old Screams piece, stridently and without evidence.)
US media keeps using the phrase “heightened tensions with Cuba” to describe what is in reality unilateral US aggression, with illegal sanctions and threats of illegal invasion, against innocent people who repeatedly say they just want to be left alone.
The same people telling you that you should eat ramen noodles and white bread sandwiches everyday to save money while working overtime are the same people that will be telling you you should’ve just taken better care of yourself when your body is broken and you want healthcare.
Memo to the global community: Canada has officially abandoned climate action.
PM Carney has systematically dismantled all the insufficient policy we had in place.
A clear-eyed and devastating piece by my brother, @SethDKlein.

Canada Post supplies community hubs, local jobs and revenue to rural and remote communities across Canada. Its an important public service, and its value can't be assessed like a private business. Do we ask how much profit our police make?
@kenklippenstein I've said this so many times!
I happen to have spent many years trying my best to avoid unnecessary spending with the goal of being financially independent. This has worked great for me, but I realize that if everyone joined me, it would crash the economy.
Yes, the Ben-Gvir video is disgraceful. But that's not the issue. The (obvious) issue is that if that's how nonviolent European protesters are treated in public, any person with a brain can imagine how Palestinians are treated behind closed doors. *That* is the real scandal.
He’s right bc we tax income, not wealth.
Bezos takes out a tiny salary, pays the income tax, and lives off loans borrowed against his stocks, basically tax free. They all do this and now 935 billionaires hold more wealth than 170 million Americans.
It’s time to tax wealth.
