🇺🇸🇮🇷 President Trump has responded to Iran’s demand for reparations from the United States by calling for Iran to pay compensation instead.

Speaking at the White House, he said Iran sought money for damage caused by recent military actions. Trump replied that the U.S. would seek payment for harm attributed to Iran over a 50-year period, including U.S. personnel killed or wounded and families of Iranian protesters killed in recent months.

He stated that if damages are to be paid, Iran should be the one to pay them. The exchange comes as talks over reopening the Strait of Hormuz remain stalled.

The counter-demand adds another layer to already difficult negotiations between the two sides.
