End of an era for our family tonight. Westridge pool hosted its final summer league meet this season. Our 6 kids have swam in meets for the last 20 years. Camille (lane 2) got the last swim! Mom got to time.
Who you spend time with will shape who you become.
Negativity is contagious, but so is gratitude. Complaining will drain you, while faith-filled, positive people will strengthen you. Be intentional about your environment, because the atmosphere around you will eventually influence the attitude within you.
I just finished this great book on Larry Bird & the incredible Indiana State phenomenon by @KeithOB. There’s so much great college basketball history & research here with cameos by Bob Knight, Magic Johnson, Al McGuire, Dick Enberg and Billy Packer.
The main benefit of your product should be explainable in one sentence or phrase. How is it different and why should I buy it? ONE sentence or phrase, folks. Apple did an excellent job of this with the iPod. Instead of using the usual industry jargon with GB, bandwidth, and so forth, they simply said, “1,000 songs in your pocket.” Done deal. Keep it simple and do not move ahead with a product until you can do this without confusing people.
Don't miss your chance to experience the Arts for ME! exhibition.

Talent opens the door, but talent alone doesn't determine a player's fate. It's their drive, determination, grit, and mental game that ultimately determines the level their success. Legendary sport psychologist Ken Ravizza said, “The mental game is just so messy; it’s not neat and concise. There is no magic. You are going to have to work your mental game every day and in practice. That goes for both coaches and athletes.”
What is competing? Competing is giving 100%, mentally and physically, of what you have at that moment. Competing is a skill than can be developed & improved in everyone. Being a competitor is a choice; it is a decision that you make, and it will separate you from the ordinary.
4 important things a player must know: 1) Why they are playing their sport; 2) What they want to achieve; 3) The price they will pay to achieve it; and 4) The three or four most important things (be specific) they must do to get them where they want to be.
Don’t complicate winning. Keep things as simple as possible. Always remember that winning is a byproduct of playing hard, playing together, and executing the fundamentals. Too often we spend time worrying about things that we cannot control. Focus on your attitude, effort, and preparation. They are the keys to your success.
Success favors the teams that have the most mental toughness. They know there is a fine line between winning and losing. They compete every possession. They play through mistakes. They're resilient. They stay united. They never stop believing in themselves & their teammates.

If you don’t prioritize, everything seems urgent and important.
If you define the single most important task for each day, almost nothing seems urgent or important.
Oftentimes, it’s just a matter of letting little bad things happen (return a phone call late and apologize, pay a small late fee, lose an unreasonable customer, etc.) to get the big important things done.
The answer to overwhelm is not spinning more plates—or doing more—it’s defining the few things that can really fundamentally change your business and life.
