The Weeding Reality

​Weed early - and do it twice.

​Young sorghum looks just like grass. If you delay, manual weeding becomes a total headache.

​🔹 Pass 1 (~2 weeks / pencil-tall): Sorghum grows its taproot first, leaving above-ground growth slow. Weed early so tough dryland weeds don't steal moisture and nitrogen.

🔹 Pass 2 (Waist-high): Once sorghum gets "fat" and distinct, do one final weed pass. The canopy takes over and shades out new weeds. 2/4

@mutitukarei @MusembiFarmKe Collecting mulch every day or every week and just keep spreading it across the farm. Between Oct and July 2027, Kenya will have excess crops, leaves, grass etc to be used as mulch and people will be giving it out for free.
After each harvest, one can plant millet/oats as mulch

The Naked-Neck hen delivered!

​Out of the 10 eggs, 9 hatched. 1 chick was lost accidentally in the nest, she’s now raising 8 strong chicks.
