AI is a tool.

Just like the camera was. Just like Photoshop was. Just like the printing press was.
We use it at Matr Lab the same way masters used apprentices, optics, and new pigments. It’s a starting point. The final work is still oil on canvas, painted by hand, museum-quality.

Calling that “not art” is like saying a photographer isn’t an artist because they didn’t grind their own glass.

It’s still a creation based off a vision by the artist.

This is why I disagree

AI is a tool- like cameras or Photoshop once were. The human still supplies the vision and final choices for the one of a kind masterpiece created.

Intent and direction come from the artist including concept, mood, style, and curation. These are true human acts.

Skill hasn’t vanished or dimished.
It has moved to prompt craft, iteration, and selection.

Art has long included new tech and conceptual work. For example hand-made labor was never the only requirement for it to be defined as art.

The creative spark and authorship will forever stay human. The model has none of its own.
