Religion! Whether African, Western or Eastern are all symbolic. You miss out on the essence if you take it literal. Our ancestors only created concepts around their understanding of the universe. What we call religion today is the description of universal principles in codes.

I think the disconnection btw many Africans & Africa spirituality is we are only focused on the rituals (which are symbolic) that we lose the essence of it. Reason why our Teachers must not just teach "what we do" but also "why we do it" this allows for better understanding.

When you study the orishas in Yoruba spiritual systems, you will realize they have attributes & qualities that can be observed & recognised in forces of nature. Our job is to master these qualities both externally & internally, then apply them for individual & societal benefit.

All African deities are representation of forces of nature bcoz In African spirituality, nature is seen as an extension of the creator. Our deities are forces of nature personified. We also see ourselves as extensions of the creator, hence we are one with nature. One with God.

Oduduwa means the power of the womb, that brings forth into existence.
Africans believed the womb represents the key of life.
They saw the womb as heaven & the woman as divine.
