When we revealed that the Zambian president was planning to remove presidential term limits before the disputed elections, his praise singers called us delusional.
Well, that choreographed process has now begun, with an organisation called 2090 leading the way. The dictator’s praise singers are now calling it necessary to allow development.
Just as happened in Zimbabwe, where the waters were tested by removing the Chief Justice’s age limit; Hakainde Hichilema’s government started by removing of term limits for mayors.
The campaign now being promoted by Project 2090 extends that push to presidential term limits, presenting their removal as a matter of “consistency.”
The real tragedy is that many of Africa’s voices for democracy have remained silent or, at times, supported Hakainde Hichilema’s abuse of power.
This shows that, for many of them, it has never been about principles or ideas; it has always been about personalities. If they like you, they stay quiet or defend you. If they dislike you, they suddenly speak out and pretend to be fighting for democracy.
Our continent is truly a joke to the outside world because of this power hungry madness.
@znbctoday How I wish my late brother was still alive today. He once told me the stealing and the cartels that is happening there is absolutely terrible 😔
@diamondtvzambia The moral of the story never f**k with the government of the day whether it's in Zambia, Japan or Tunisia the government can use all it's resources to show you that any man can be touched.
