cop vs. creative

For those who don’t know me, I’m Musti, and I was a cop in Germany for 5 years. It was my childhood dream, so right after school I went straight into the police. But the longer I was in it, the more I realized it just wasn’t built for me. It wasn’t about the job, it was more about my outlook on life. I knew I could work 40-50 years and then retire, or I could work hard building something of my own. Both are hard. I just had to pick my “hard.”

When I quit, I already knew what I was building. Me. My personal brand, and my creative taste. The police taught me discipline and it taught me courage, the kind you don’t really learn anywhere else. I took all of that with me on the journey.

But after quitting I hit rock bottom. It didn’t work out the way I envisioned. So I leaned on the one thing I knew, discipline, and just kept showing up every day, trying out different things. And slowly I figured it out.

Fast forward to today and I’m out here working on the craziest projects all over the world, building creative systems and brand worlds. Brands, creatives and museums hire me for my taste. And this is just the beginning.

Let this be a reminder/motivation for anyone reading. Working somewhere because you’re told to is hard. Building and believing in your own ideas is hard too. So choose your hard.

Haha sorry for getting philosophical, let’s create and have fun. My two favorite words: just create.
