Public Trustee Taskforce Engages CDSC on Management of Securities
This afternoon, the Public Trustee Taskforce held a consultative meeting with the Central Depository & Settlement Corporation Limited (CDSC) as part of its ongoing engagements with key stakeholders in strengthening the administration and management of assets held under the Public Trustee.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Taskforce to engage CDSC on matters relating to the identification, safeguarding, transfer and management of securities, particularly those forming part of deceased estates and other assets administered through the Public Trustee.
CDSC representatives Mary Mukame, Esther Mathew and Karen Maina participated in the engagement and shared insights on the Corporation's role in the electronic custody, record-keeping, transfer and transmission of securities. CDSC facilitates securities transfers relating to deceased estates, subject to the requisite verification and legal processes.
The engagement is part of efforts by the Public Trustee Taskforce to strengthen collaboration with institutions within the financial and capital markets sector, enhance efficiency in the administration of estates, and ensure that beneficiaries can access assets due to them through transparent and effective processes.
The discussions further underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration, information sharing and leveraging technology to improve the administration of estates and safeguard the interests of beneficiaries.
