KRA has been given a new weapon.
Tax all the money in bank and mpesa.
But do not be alarmed.
In simple terms.
Money entering your bank account is now presumed to be income.
Unless you can prove it is not.
Yes. Even if it’s “not business”.
For example
- Friends send you money to “hold”
- Chamas pass money through your account
- Your wife blesses your mpesa
- Someone refunds you cash
- You receive family support because you live in Nairobi
- You sell land, a car, or livestock
- Random deposits keep coming in
KRA’s question is simple:
“What is this money?”
And now YOU must explain.
What people wrongly assume
- “It’s my personal account”
- “It’s not profit”
- “KRA must prove it’s income”
Court said
Money in the bank = income by default
Burden of proof is on you
If you can’t explain = KRA can tax it
Result
- Unexplained deposits = taxable income
- Penalties & interest follow
- Maximum chest pains
Simple solution:
- Money in
- Explain it
- Or pay tax on it

WHO warns countries, including Kenya, to stay alert after a deadly disease known as Nipah virus re-emerged in India.
Nipah virus is actually a rare but serious virus spread from animals (like fruit bats) to humans, and it can also spread between people in close contact.

Our Memorandum as presented today before the joint Committee of Finance & National Planning and Public Debt & Privatisation on the Proposed sale of GoK's 15% stake in Safaricom, Nairobi, Kenya.
1. Kenya must open up the transaction to international bidders.
2. The valuation is not commensurate to what Safaricom PLC is. The company was valued at Ksh 1.8 Trillion in 2021 before the investment in Ethiopia. It should be worth more now.
3. The immobilisation of 16Bn shares in June 2025 owned by the buyer was meant to undermine the share price by ostensibly sending a message of imminent supply.
4. Kenya cannot afford to lose over Ksh 80Bn on Conditions Precedent extended by the regulators.
5. Bottomline; open the bid to International Markets, Kenya will definitely get more.

What we saw in Tanzania and what is unfolding in Uganda is the reason we must insist on the centrality of our values in all political discourse. Democracy, Human Rights, Freedom, Rule of Law, Social Justice and Equality. Everything else must be done within the framework and in accordance with these values.
@NdindiNyoro is an example of a leader so determined to uplift the standards of his/her people. He is doing so much, no noise, no shouting at people, no discrimination in the distribution of bursaries, no violence, no disrespect to people, no slapping poor people, just doing it as a servant leader. Politics aside, this legislator has done marvelous for his people of Kiharu.
The issues of grand corruption and wanton theft of devolution and CDF funds by the leadership of Northern Kenya is resonating very well with the poverty ravaged masses of Northern Kenya. In fact this is a game changer! H. E RIGATHI GACHAGUA in his own crude and unsophisticated way has opened the eyes of the masses and shown them their problem is the sole creation of their leaders. If this debate continues on this trajectory, GACHAGUA may in 2027 be invited to the high table by the voters of Northern Kenya who are desperate to be freed from the shackles of the thieving political vampires of the North. WATCH THIS SPACE!
H.E Rigathi Gachagua is unapologetically a Kikuyu supremist and a tribalist class A. But he makes a valid point when he calls out leaders from Northern Kenya and tells the truth about them. Hon Rigathi Gachagua is 💯 right when he says (a) Northern Kenya leaders are thieves who steal from their people and invest public funds in Nairobi, (b) Northern Kenyan leaders can't account for about Kshs 1 trillion given to the region since devolution started in 2013. (c) Northern Kenya leaders have not built world class institutions ie schools, hospitals etc and have EATEN CDF money. (d) Northern Kenyans leaders including MCAs are all domiciled in Nairobi and have homes, wives and children only in Nairobi and none in Northern Kenya. Look at Garissa and Marsabit. Where did Kshs 300 billion in devolution money go to? Leaders steal money left, right and centre and nothing happens. Gachagua is playing politics, but when he talks about Northern Kenyan leaders and how they have let down their people he is being truthful and i'm with him 💯.
Tough times for workers as take-home pay will drop heavily.
