@AjKile22 I think this is a good first step. I also feel that perhaps suggesting other posts the viewer could view to expand on the topic could be beneficial to preventing misinformation by offering the viewer a chance to become accurately informed on the topic. #UWJ201 #316
@jjgemmer@taraminor11 I think this is a good point. I also feel that incorporating both into a marketing plan would be beneficial because different things catch different people’s attention and in this way they could reach a broader audience with their message #UWJ201 #316
In Wednesday’s lecture we discussed strategies to handle bias, one of which was to drop double standards. Can you think of an instance where you found yourself to have a double standard with regards to an issue in politics? Did you realize it at the time? #UWJ201 #316
@AllieKal3@Kayla31879264 This is a great example and it makes me wonder if there is a difference between the influence of positive and negative pressure in relation to how quickly news is released. #UWJ201 #316
@isabellam1220 I would speculate that if those with large followers do have political influence, it would be largest on those least educated or versed on political issues, as they’d be less likely to scrutinize the information due to lack of exposure to politics and different views #UWJ201 #316
@jonny_lipman@EstelleXiao1 I agree with you that we must take steps to decrease knowledge gaps. I learned in a previous class that a crucial step is making access to technology more available for lower socioeconomic families. More access to technology will lead to more access to information. #UWJ201 #316
@EmiliaW91167202 I agree with you! How I view media has already started to change since the start of the semester. Not only do I pay more attention to how the info is presented to me, but by who, and I’ve noticed I unintentionally predominantly consume media that supports my views. #UWJ201 #316
Monday’s lecture about the knowledge gap made me wonder if there’s a connection b/w socioeconomic class and trust in the media. Are those with less access to various types of media/information (lower ses) more likely to trust the media they consume? #UWJ201 #316.
I found this week’s lecture about the effects and prevalence of violence in shows eye opening, and I wonder if tv shows such as Dexter where u find yourself rooting for the murderer has caused society to be less surprised/judgemental of such acts? #UWJ201 #316
@AmetiZana The Queen’s Gambit had the same effect on me! Immediately after finishing the series I attempted to play a game, and although I lost terribly, it’s interesting to think back on the influence that show had on my immediate interests. #UWJ201 #316
@EricksonMakenna I’ve also noticed this! & when I think ab it, I tend to see more advertisements, like drinking from a Dunkin’ cup, during shows that r filmed w/ a live audience like X factor, rather than shows that’ll air entirely online & thru streaming services, I wonder y this is? #UWJ201 #316
