I've been thinking about something.
What if part of the conversation around relationships today is that we're applying modern expectations to a world that's changed in very different ways?
Relationships are complex. Cheating ultimately comes down to individual choices, not just culture or demographics.
But I do think it's worth asking whether changing demographics influence how people date and form relationships.
I'm not saying monogamy is the problem, or that polygamy is the solution.
I'm just curious whether our relationship norms always reflect the realities of the societies we live in.
It makes me wonder: if there really is a mismatch between the number of available men and women, does that create more competition in dating? Could that contribute to infidelity or relationship instability?
Historically, many African communities practiced polygyny (one man with multiple wives). I've always wondered whether part of the reason was to accommodate demographic realities, alongside social and economic factors.
Do you love this shit? Are you high right now?
