Friars enter the upcoming season with a strong core of returning talent and experience at key positions. Senior quarterback Matias Leon is back as QB1 and will lead the offense alongside standout wide receiver and Division I recruit Ish Muhammad, who will be a primary weapon in moving the chains.

Freshman Zach Williams joins the receiving corps with high expectations, already earning an offer from Baylor before playing a varsity snap, an early sign of his potential impact. Up front, the offensive line will be a strength, anchored by experienced veterans Diego Chavez, Cooper Timmons, and Liam Bell, all of whom have the talent to play at the next level.

On defense, edge rusher Asher Wheatley has taken major strides and will look to disrupt opposing backfields, teaming up with linebacker Alex Finley to form a formidable duo. Two-way threats Ethan Perkins and Nick Payne, both with Division I offers, are expected to be difference makers on both sides of the ball.

While Bishop Lynch has consistently produced talented players, the program has struggled in recent years to put it all together as a complete unit capable of making a deep postseason run. Whether this group can change that narrative remains to be seen.

The Friars’ offensive front is one of the most impressive in the state.

‘26s Diego Chavez, (65) Cooper Timmons, (73) Liam Bell (62) and ‘28 Angoi Angoi (55) are units. Bell stands at 6’7, 290 and Chavez, Timmons and Angoi at 6’3 from 240-280. All are pancake machines, and a massive reason why the Friar’s run game was so effective in 2024.

College coaches need to take note of all of these guys, next level players without question.
