This afternoon, I received Prof. Anna Tibaijuka, a senior member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) of Tanzania, who paid me a courtesy call at State House, Entebbe.
We exchanged views on the long-standing relationship between our two countries and our two movements, the NRM and CCM. The relationship between Uganda and Tanzania goes back a long way.

President @KagutaMuseveni today presided over the swearing-in of three newly appointed Ministers at State House, Entebbe.

The President urged the new Ministers to fight corruption and inefficiency, uphold accountability, and serve Ugandans with integrity. He also reiterated his stance on dual citizenship and the importance of clear national loyalty.

Today, at State House Entebbe, I presided over the swearing-in of three Ministers: Hon. Amb. Adonia Ayebare, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Shartsi Kutesa Musherure, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of Micro-Finance; and Hon. Witonze Juma, Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

I congratulate them and urge them to focus on eliminating corruption and inefficiency in Government through proper supervision and accountability.

On dual citizenship, I stressed that while the arrangement was introduced to address Uganda’s difficult history, people must be clear about where their loyalty lies. Ultimately, the East African Federation remains the long-term solution to questions of identity and integration in our region.

Today, I met the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at Munyonyo and shared with them what I picked from wananchi during the recent campaigns.

I directed that corruption in the health sector and the Parish Development Model be decisively tackled. The theft of medicines, absenteeism by health workers, diversion of PDM funds, the sale of government jobs, and all forms of corruption must stop. These MPs must speak out without fear, monitor government programmes closely, and ensure that they deliver real benefits to the people.

This partnership builds on the success of EACOP and will strengthen regional energy security, industrialisation and trade. The Tanga Hub, together with Uganda’s Hoima Refinery, will ensure that our petroleum resources create more value through refining, storage, logistics and manufacturing instead of exporting raw materials. Today in Dar es Salaam, together with H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, I witnessed the signing of an MoU between Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and Vitol Bahrain E.C. to develop the Tanga Regional Energy Hub.

President @KagutaMuseveni has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for a two-day working visit at the invitation of H.E. Dr. @SuluhuSamia.

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, the President was received by Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, @HonMahmoudKombo.

During the visit, President Museveni will engage in bilateral discussions with his host and counterpart, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure, energy, transport, tourism, peace and security, and regional integration. The two leaders will also witness the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and address a joint press briefing.

The Hon. Chief Justice of Uganda, Hon. Justice Flavian Zeija, together with Judicial Officers, toured the Uganda Petroleum Institute, Kigumba, where they visited key training facilities and learning laboratories.

The delegation received insights into the practical training, modern technologies, and specialised skills being imparted to prepare a competent workforce for Uganda's oil and gas sector.

Today, at State House Entebbe, I met Ambassadors representing members of the United Nations Security Council and formally presented Ambassador Olara Otunnu as Uganda’s candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General.

I urged them to convey Uganda’s endorsement to their respective governments. Ambassador Otunnu has the experience, integrity, and diplomatic credentials to lead the UN. Uganda’s record in promoting regional peace and security, as well as hosting refugees, reflects the values that underpin our support for his candidature.

UPDATE: Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed Brig. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru as Acting Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC) and granted him the acting rank of Major General.

Museveni- I have 15 grandchildren. I wedded Maama Janet abroad with only eight guests at a luncheon. These extravagant weddings are going to disturb people. I urge religious leaders to address this issue through their preaching.
