NIU baseball put up a valiant effort at the Tallahassee Regional, ultimately coming up short of advancing-- but not before pulling off some stunning performances that proved their worth on the diamond: https://t.co/9Bvr5J6c9Q
What an incredible weekend. Seeing NIU play in an NCAA tournament game would have been special enough, seeing them beat last years national runner up (at 130 in the morning) made it that much better.
Truly an incredible group of people involved with the @NIU_Baseball program. From the players, coaches, parents, former players. This weekend was always going to be fun, but I met so many great people it made it even that much more awesome.
Thanks for letting me be part of it. Let’s do it again next year! #Huskieball
Carter Cox closed out NIU’s first NCAA tournament win in program history and then less than 48 hours later turned around and held #10 in the country to 3 runs in 7 innings in an elimination game in their own house
Don’t think he had the year he wanted to overall, but that’s a hell of a way to go out. I’ve been an NIU sports fan for a long time (#old) and that’s as good of a performance as I can remember there ever being in any sport.
What an incredible team. What an incredible season. Couldn’t be more proud. Friday night/this weekend will be a weekend I remember for the rest of my life.
Thanks for bringing a winner to DeKalb and giving me another team to care about @ryancopelandNIU.
I am incredibly proud.
SCHEDULE UPDATE: Tomorrow’s game against St. John’s is slated for a 2 PM ET first pitch. The loser of that game will face the winner of FSU/CCU in an elimination game at 6 PM ET
