Indeed, Citizen Science is people power in action and it’s inspiring to see how it is shaping water governance Globally.
In Kenya, we celebrate the 49 Water Resources Users Associations (WRUAs) that are already monitoring 57 sites across the 6 basin areas; true trailblazers in protecting our Rivers, Lakes, and Groundwater.
But this journey needs all of us. Every community member can step up as a Citizen Scientist understanding what is happening in our water sources and becoming a change maker in building a water secure Kenya.
👉 To be part of this movement, join your nearest WRUA and participate in citizen science monitoring. Together, we can safeguard our water, our future, and our nation.
Thank you to our partners @WRA_KEN@WWF_Kenya@Earthwatch_Eur@UN_WWQA #GEMS/Water for making this a reality.

The youth are key to building climate resilience in communities.
When they're involved, communities thrive!
The young people are rising up with renewable energy innovations and technologies to take down big polluters like @TotalEnergies, who prioritize profits over people, destroying our continent and stealing our future.

Our Nation’s Lakes, Rivers, Streams, Estuaries, and Wetlands are fundamental to the health, prosperity, and resilience of our communities and are held sacred by our Communities.
They are not only the sources of clean drinking water that flows into the taps of our homes, but are also economic drivers supporting jobs and outdoor recreation across the nation.
By absorbing and storing carbon, our nation’s waterways and wetlands – and the forests, grasslands, and farmlands they nourish – also play a critical role in the fight against climate change.
Government of Kenya, Private Sector, Civil Society and Development Partners must invest in protection of our Freshwater resources in order to enhance drought and climate resilience.
