"Your books have arrived."
Time for a break.
We spend so much time consuming information.
A good book reminds me to slow down and think.
In an age of intelligent systems, perhaps sustained attention is becoming one of our most valuable human skills.
#AI#PrincipleOfPurpose
We've become very good at talking about goals, strategy and AI.
We spend much less time asking what keeps people, organisations and intelligent systems moving in a coherent direction.
That question led me to develop the Principle of Purpose
#AI#Leadership#SystemsThinking
Whether in people, teams, organisations or intelligent systems, drift is usually the symptom. The underlying problem is a loss of coherence.
Without coherence, energy no longer points in the same direction. #PrincipleOfPurpose
One of the most common problems in business is drift.
Not a lack of intelligence.
Not a lack of effort.
A gradual movement away from what was originally intended.
The Principle of Purpose emerged from my attempt to understand why.

Elite athletes train because they are successful, not because they are failing.
Yet many professional salespeople spend years performing without taking time to step back, reflect, refine their craft, and learn from others.
Strange when both are judged on results

As intelligence increases, capability becomes less scarce. Direction becomes more important
The Principle of Purpose explores how humans, machines and natural systems maintain direction over time through coherence.
Perhaps purpose is more fundamental than we routinely think
Perhaps the future is neither machines serving humans nor humans serving superintelligence.
More likely it becomes a symbiosis founded on mutual need and shared purpose.
AI brings speed and consistency
Humans bring meaning, judgment and direction

Routine doesn’t just reduce activity.
It narrows direction.
As AI takes the predictable,
the value shifts to where we place our thinking.
Not more thinking —
thinking with direction.
#HumanAI#FutureOfWork#CreativeThinking#PrincipleOfPurpose
Most systems don’t fail because of capability.
They fail because of lost coherence.
Purpose sets direction.
Coherence sustains performance.
When alignment drifts, results follow.
Applies to people, organisations—and now AI.

Most organisational failure isn’t capability,
it’s direction.
Not lack of talent.
Not lack of tech.
Lack of clear, coherent direction.
Energy without alignment is just noise.

Chinapla 2026 delivered.
Strong engagement across the polymer value chain from resin to recycling with a clear focus on one thing: turning materials testing into reliable, actionable data.
Great energy in the economy.

AI is reducing the cost of doing work.
So we need to think carefully.
If we keep measuring activity, we’ll miss where value now sits.
The better question is:
“What results are expected of me?”
Results require purpose, judgment, and commercial alignment — not just effort.
AI seminar question: Who would you most like to meet?
Most named today’s AI leaders—rightly so.
I chose the 1927 Solvay Conference—Curie, Einstein, Bohr, Schrödinger.
Not instead but alongside
As we accelerate, it’s not just what we build…
but how clearly we hold purpose
We’re not short of signals!
We’re short of understanding.
Much of modern confusion may come from reacting too quickly—without asking: what purpose sits behind this?
Perhaps clarity doesn’t start with response.
It starts with purpose.
#Purpose#Clarity#SystemsThinking
Which is more intelligent — Humans or AI?
Maybe the question is wrong.
perhaps intelligence may not sit in humans or machines…
but in how well a system maintains coherence toward its purpose.
The future isn’t Human vs Machine.
It’s alignment vs drift
#AI#SystemsThinking#POP
I feel the mind is rarely overwhelmed by information.
It is overwhelmed by conflicting purposes.
Clarity isn’t about less input.
It’s about aligned intent.
#Purpose#Focus#Clarity#PrincipleOfPurpose
Much of what shapes our thinking today arrives through systems we barely notice.
One useful question is not “Do I agree?” but:
What purpose is this trying to serve?
A small reflection on what I call the Principle of Purpose.
