This is one of the most heartbreaking videos I have ever watched.

After the demolition of people’s homes by @nemaug , a devastated mother reportedly chose to take her own life, overwhelmed by the pain of losing everything she had worked for. In the video, her young son can be seen desperately pleading with her not to do it.

No child should ever have to witness such pain. No mother should be pushed to such hopelessness.

@GeorgeMusisi4 is an Advocate of the High Court, with a particular specialty in Human Rights litigation; Criminal Legal Defense; Constitutional and Civil litigation. He is the Member of Parliament representing Kira Municipality under the @NUP_Ug Platform, He is also a Partner with PACE Advocates. He is a founding member of the Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL), on whose Board he served for four years; Board Member Leadership Square Africa; A member of theUganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity (UCLF); member of Uganda Law Society (ULS) and member of East Africa Law Society (EALS).

He has been Lead Counsel in a number of Public Interest litigation before the Constitutional Court challenging different laws which suppress constitutional freedoms; He has litigated a number of Human Rights cases before the High Court and lower courts; on top of being Defence Counsel to a number of political activists before courts of judicature and before the General Court Martial. He has consulted for the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights; Lawyers Without Borders; Penal Reform International; Defend Defenders; Human Rights Network for Journalists; Kituo kya Katiba; and other human rights centered organizations.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws from @UCUniversity; a Masters of Laws from @Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. He is the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Bulindo, and the Head of Laity for Kira Parish, Namirembe Diocese and a member of the Diocesan Synod.

@alesi_majorine is a YALI Alumna, human rights lawyer, governance professional, policy advocate, and gender equality expert working at the intersection of justice, migration, trade, and sustainable development. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Zoota Initiative for Development, where she leads initiatives focused on cross-border and intra-African trade, women’s economic empowerment, human rights in business practices, climate justice, legal protection, and wellbeing in rural transborder communities across Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan.

Through her leadership, she has supported over 2,000 people, especially young women, teenage mothers, and underserved communities, by promoting inclusive development, justice, and economic opportunities.

Hakiza Ronald, Founder and CEO of Vestafi Ventures Limited, an East African platform pioneering fractional and collective property ownership across the region. Through Vestafi, he has built a community of more than 1,000 members across nine countries, with a growing portfolio of properties under management and an unbroken record of monthly distributions to investors. He also leads Zenolius Homes, a short-stay furnished apartment business based in Kampala.

Before @JoinVestafi, @hakiza256 founded https://t.co/t4ZE0qGofV, a digital transport platform later acquired by Treepz, one of Africa’s leading mobility companies. His entrepreneurial work has received international recognition. In 2018, he won the Africa Entrepreneurship Award in Casablanca, taking home the $100,000 grand prize, and in 2022, he received the U.S. Mission Best Entrepreneur Award.

His journey into business was shaped by years of social-sector work. As Project Manager at Straight Talk Foundation, Uganda’s leading NGO, Hakiza led programs in advocacy, youth development, climate action, gender, and sexual and reproductive health rights. This experience sharpened his skills in stakeholder engagement, multi-channel communications, and civil society partnerships, all of which continue to influence his leadership today.
