🇸🇮 RTV Slovenija has announced that they will not broadcast this year's Eurovision Song Contest, replacing it with a thematic week called "Voices of Palestine".
📆 ON THIS DAY in 2006, the EBU announced 42 countries would participate in #Eurovision 2007, the highest number ever at the time.
Today, 35 countries were announced as competing in Eurovision 2026, the lowest number for more than two decades.
We really could have had 39 countries taking part + the contest would've been a great celebration of the 70th anniversary of Eurovision + a celebration of music, but here we are without some of the key countries who have been part of Eurovision for decades, it's just such a shame
Ukraine doesn’t need to spend millions to make spam votes in its favour
Its voice and talent is heard all over the Europe and they vote for them
Can’t say the same for others 🤧
🇨🇭 Eurovision 2024 winner Nemo will be sending their trophy back to the EBU.
"#Eurovision says it stands for unity, inclusion, and dignity for all. [...] But Israel's continued participation [...] shows a clear conflict between those ideals and the decisions made by the EBU."
@ESCdiscord The EBU has decided to let five European countries leave Eurovision in order to continue to provide a platform for one country which:
1. is in the midst of committing a genocide;
2. has been suspected of manipulation;
3. and isn't even in Europe.
Disgraceful.
