As result in English people more often use archaic expressions or misuse words when they want to say something formal.

@johannesmkx Hard disagree. German words are very descriptive, as a native speaker you can understand the meaning of an unfamiliar word accurately most of the time. English heavily uses Greek/latin loanwords or new compositions that go against all conventions and give no clue to the meaning.
