@McalexMcintyre @ArianaSeigel @Inadarkwood That’s because it’s true. Everybody who has resumed life without taking covid precautions, including traveling, will forever keep covid alive & mutating. Meaning those who are immune compromised have to risk death to leave the house. That is a reality of the world now.
@McalexMcintyre @ArianaSeigel @Inadarkwood Alex, It seems like you don’t realize that Karl can NEVER travel again. He can’t leave his home w/o risk of death. What if you were never able to visit your sister again? That is Karl’s reality. Maybe try not trauma vomiting at someone who has to endure this forever.
I talked this morning about an inflection point in this country right now, specifically for reporters:
What are you more afraid of? Being on Breitbart for saying that trans people deserve to be alive?
Or are you more afraid of waking up to the news of more dead people?
@thefatdoctoruk @99piorg We are soon thereafter taught to ignore them. Forced to recalibrate to what the world around us demands of us. And it never lets up. It’s definitely a thing I find myself working to heal from. 2/2
@thefatdoctoruk I learned on a podcast (@99piorg) about how the stethoscope was invented and that is was the instrument that changed medicine to be focused on data collection rather than symptoms. We’ve gone too far that direction. We are born knowing how to connect with our internal gauges. 1/
@evantesseract@riledunicorn If you haven’t checked out the podcast Fucking Cancelled, I recommend it. It’s really helped me process how this happens- and talks about what we can do differently. It’s been nice having you in my feed. I wish you well 🌟💜
@thefatdoctoruk @DalbySteph I would love to have a discussion about how externalizing information from our bodies (really any test/tracking that isn’t self reported) to keep track of things makes us less in tune with our own internal cues. So many of these numbers we just. Don’t. Need.
@thefatdoctoruk @KenzieMillar Related tangent- I was discussing w/a fatphobic dr about having a slightly fatty liver. I asked how she treated thin ppl with fatty liver. She said they don’t get it. I wish I’d thought to ask in that moment how many thin ppl she’d tested for it.
I've been covering bad parts of the internet for long time now.
For years, there was one site extremist researchers warned me not to cover because publicizing it would be dangerous.
But it's time people know KiwiFarms—and how they're chasing political enemies around the world.
I’m not following it closely, but I find it funny how people were obsessed with how utterly devoted to each other Morticia and Gomez were and romanticised it as the perfect relationship until the exact second they stopped finding Gomez conventionally attractive.
I think the last bit is kinda the biggest point. They are forcing us to fight for our rights rather than live our lives. I’m glad he found a way to do this.
florida high school class president zander moricz was told by his school that they would cut his microphone if he said “gay” in his grad speech, so he replaced gay with “having curly hair.” i am in awe
I know that fitness pros are well-meaning when they say "everyone should move" or movement will "make everyone healthier" or "we should build community in our neighborhoods around movement" but it's not true, it's harmful, and we need to stop saying these things.
a thread 1/6
#CallTheMidwife has consistently depicted disabled characters & storylines over the seasons with such sensitivity & seriousness.
The most recent episode was about a disabled father fighting for custody for his children & domestic violence.
