@shanedawson I found out after the fact that stats back that up. Most child molesters aren't clinical pedophiles; they don't actively *fantasize* about children; they just act and take advantage of situations as they come up.

@shanedawson The reason I defended those things was that I was in a lot of pain and started wondering if the person who molested me had fantasized about it beforehand, would they still have done it?

@shanedawson Around the time Penn State was a thing, I really started processing the trauma. I defended jokes about rape and fantasizing about rape and molestation with a passion.

@shanedawson So here's the big reason why I'm not mad about the pedophile joke: I am also a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, and joking about it was a huge part of my recovery process.
