The Commitment Ceremony that took place this morning was truly an historic and momentous occasion for #UWaterloo as we affirmed our commitment to Reconciliation, Indigenization and decolonization.
This morning, the #UWaterloo community came together for a traditional sunrise ceremony to express our appreciation & thanks for life and nature. It is also an appropriate start to an important day in our journey towards reconciliation. #UWaterlooCommunity#UWaterlooProud
A wonderful day in Kitchener as we unveiled the “Every child matters” crosswalk at Victoria Park. Schools, community members, the orange shirt society proudly joined Sheena’s dream https://t.co/6QVQsFJSXG
The @ECMCrosswalk will be unveiled later today at #Kitchener's Victoria Park. It was more than a project for Sheena Merling. It was a "calling", as she continues her own healing and reconciliation journey. Sheena joins me at 7:10 @CBCKW891. LISTEN LIVE: https://t.co/eMMgCDJTiE
The queen's death has garnered a wave of mixed emotions. Tomorrow (Monday) morning at 8:10 @CBCKW891, we hear from @myeengun Henry, an Indigenous knowledge keeper at @uwaterloo, about why some in the Indigenous community remain conflicted.
@SNETCampbell I’m sure they did their best without giving up everything, but if we are so close than it’s all or nothing. The name of the game is win the World Series, right?
A ceremony @StJeromesUni by Elder Myeengun Henry is allowing some community members to reflect on the potential for the healing of Indigenous people in Canada.
The event coincides with the Pope’s visit, which will be live-streamed at this event. @CBCKW891
Participants were asked by Elder @myeengun to take a small bundle of tobacco wrapped in red cloth, fill it with their thoughts going into the Pope’s apology and toss it into the Ceremonial Fire.
The sweet smell of medicinal tobacco slowly embraces the ceremony. @CBCKW891
