@sierraclub's MyGen Campaign fights to move CA to 100% clean energy. We organize communities to demand clean energy solutions to combat climate change! ☀️🔋⚡️
If you want to a copy of this slideshow presentation on #hydrogen#greenhydrogen please let me know and I'll be glad to send it over.

At the end of the day the majority of end uses are inappropriate. We do not need hydrogen to power our buildings, electricity, most vehicles or most industry.
There may be appropriate end uses for long haul freight trucking, aviation, maritime shipping and high heat industries.
Every other type of hydrogen production: gray from steam methane reform of fossil gas, blue from gray + CCS, brown from gasification of coal or BECCA from biofuels + CCS cause toxic emissions and exacerbate climate change and public health impacts
Hydrogen must be green meaning it is produced from electrolysis only using clean renewable energy with retirement of RECs and appropriately procured water
Thanks to everyone who came out. The solutions to the climate crisis are:
1. Phase out fossil fuels
2. Clean the grid with solar and wind
3. Electrify our homes, vehicles, industries, everything as we reduce use
4. Only use hydrogen if it's a) green b) safe c) needed
Can some hydrogen lobbyist explain the wild claim that ARB's Advanced Clean Cars II rule indicates 17% of passenger ZEVs will be fuel cell? ARB never estimates fuel cells representing >3.7% of annual ZEV car sales. It's almost as if the industry $$ grab is based on misinformation
The #Sackett decision undoes a half-century of progress generated by the Clean Water Act. Almost 90 million acres of formerly protected wetlands are now deeply threatened, as well as smaller streams and water bodies. I am very sad today. #SCOTUS
If you're working on #rail, this @EPA report on locomotive inventory is essential reading.
Two insights that stand out --
1) 67% of railyard switcher locomotives are Tier 0
2) Class I railyard switcher fleet mixes became *dirtier* from 2017 to 2020

Hydrogen lobby is taking Clean Transportation Funding in CA hostage, threatening to kill reauthorization unless more money is earmarked for H2 cars.
Rly confirms the worst suspicions of the H2 industry. They would sooner stall the energy transition than lose more market share.
We agree with @latimesopinion: California must add huge amounts of battery storage to capture #cleanenergy during the day and provide it to the electrical grid at night. The state can use its roughly one million #electricvehicles to keep the lights on!

The National Renewable Energy Lab published a report last year looking at the benefits, costs, and challenges of decarbonizing the US power sector by 2035.
It includes a graphic comparing the land needed for more renewable energy with current land uses.

More decisionmakers should have this data handy
Choosing btwn hydrogen or electrification isn't just a harmless decision based on preference.
Even assuming both use 100% renewable energy, you get 1/3 the CO2 reductions in a fuel cell vs. a battery EV.

The proposed locomotive amendments in the @EPA's #CleanerTrucks standard will help states get on the right track towards accountability on the rail industry. 🚂
