I’m basically off this platform and have been for quite a while (I’m more likely to post in the future on Threads or Bluesky), but wanted to drop this into the feed just in case folks are still following me and can see this in their feeds. See you elsewhere!
We just published an article on TheBody about how some of the HIV community’s leading advocates are feeling, what they’re thinking about, and what messages they have for people living with HIV in the immediate wake of a Trump win: https://t.co/VCSBumLYN4
One of the most profound and meaningful interviews I’ve ever done with @juanmichaelii and @BodyPROHIV about HIV Criminalization. Please give it a listen!

144-282: House rejected Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) amendment to the 2024 Transportation & Housing spending bill to eliminate funding for the federal HIV/AIDS housing assistance program. 71 Republicans joined all Democrats in voting No.
No idea why THIS particular item triggered me given 1) I almost never post anymore and 2) nobody can see me post anyway b/c algorithm and 3) I've seen this narrative for years, but I really wish ppl would stop framing "trying to ignore the lunatic" as though it's some new trend
Trump promotes extrajudicial killing, “death” to nation’s top military officer, threatens judges and prosecutors. The news media yawns. Latest by me on “the banality of crazy,” starring @brianklaas, @JeffreyGoldberg, @SykesCharlie and @sbg1. https://t.co/i6RnOwz9RE

Same principle applies with #HIV.
It's not "infected," "coinfected," "virally suppressed" to describe people. It's:
"A person living with HIV"
"Someone living with HIV and Hepatitis B"
"An individual living with HIV who is virally suppressed"
Language matters.

"A woman with asthma"
"A person with diabetes"
"An individual with sickle cell disease"

Human beings are not personifications of diseases.
It dehumanizes and perpetuates stigma.

@delsannio Bluerskyer
I’m not in Blue yet but yes we have a bevy of options at our disposal that are each run by extremely rich private citizens with questionable morals and ethics, it’s super
It is not enough to react, we must act-- I write about actions we can take after SCOTUS' reversal of affirmative action last week in @BodyPROHIV.

Thanks @juanmichaelii for this outlet!
In June, Colorado activists held a conference to commemorate the 40th anni. of the Denver Principles and, for the first time since they were spoken in 1983, attendees heard audio of one of the 11 gay men reading them out loud for the first time https://t.co/tre64snwOy
