@RBrookhiser I think you were trying to type linotype machines, and your phone didn’t believe there was such a word @RBrookhiser What I heard about those machines was that their ETAION SHRDLU keyboards ruined the operators for ever typing on QWERTY.
@admcrlsn Kamala wasn't going to go with 2 women as she would have feared a loss would have focused on that. Wasn't ready. Good generally but untested under attack, and those attacks would have come.
@LarrietDarling@JoyceCarolOates Should not be source, but viewed with prompt included, at least is a starting point. If someone quotes Grok here, just ask Grok "how would I argue against this information" and you can see how slippery it all is.
no doubt, but if you ask AI what are the steps for renewing a passport, or exactly what to expect if you have a bone marrow biopsy, it will reply promptly & helpfully with numbered steps.
AI may prevail as a kind of Encyclopedia Britannica plus handyman guide. I would not wish to use AI for writing--for anything that I could & would want to do myself--but simple references are indeed helpful & their accuracy can be checked.
@JoyceCarolOates We should remember always that the pre AI method of "Googling" was fraught with error and commercially spiked. I get annoyed with people showing me Chat GPT or Grok, but at least I can ask for prompts.
@averyfjames The NY conviction absolutely cemented the GOP Primary for Trump when some, including Murdoch wanted to bail. It was stupid classic "don't come at the king" idiocy. Kansas hypothetical dunno. I they thought HRC comeback was possible..prolly woulda.
@averyfjames Not equatible. One wrong with multiple people and huge damage to nation's democracy. Also near-tragic see Pence.
Other, if wrong, can be corrected in appeals. But no I wasn't a fan of the Bragg prosecution, and said so to people cheering around me.
@JoyceCarolOates Overly watchful HR departments at companies make it difficult too. All but self-employed or lawyers will have to avoid running to avoid employer reputation damage. Some of that was always happening. Had employers say they'd "have to look up policy." To participate in democracy
@JoyceCarolOates Tough for the families of candidates. Candidates (generally) sign up for it. Biggest worry is not so much themselves but how other people esp. family with same name/employers view it. "why'd you get involved in that?" etc.
@GRobLewis@JoyceCarolOates@GOP I think a constant assertion of the alternative is enough, i.e. "Whenever you guys want to have that Constitutional Amendment on Gerrymandering, we are for it, until then..."
@RBrookhiser Great library in #Newark. Now of course, it is a holdover from it's glorious 19-aughts. Keep an eye on this city. Lack of budgets means things weren't razed. This could have been a 1960's style modernist block.
@BillieHolidayW@liz_july4th@RBrookhiser Yes it does and it has his typewriter and a lot of stuff. He once worked at the circ. desk in the 50's. And it's a great building on its own. Nice reading room. My only complaint about NPL is not much books other than fiction.
