Ledger wallets are being drained. Here's what is actually confirmed.
What Ledger said (Oct 9):
- The losses are tied to devices sold by one reseller, CryptoBilis (SE Asia)
- It has no indication its own systems or services were compromised
- It asked the reseller to halt all sales and shipments
If you bought from them in the last 90 days:
- Not set up yet? Don't initialize it.
- Already set up? Move funds to a new device with a new seed.
Not confirmed: the cause and the total. Researcher estimates range from ~$72M to ~$93M. One researcher posted photos of a device with a hidden board, but it's unverified and not linked to the reseller.

Arthur Hayes says the scariest headlines may be the setup, not the end.
His view: every mega bull run starts by climbing a wall of worry.
2017: block size wars
2020: Covid
2023: FTX collapse + rate hikes
2026: AI encryption FUD
The 2026 worry: AI-accelerated math could threaten today's cryptography (Vitalik called a break within ~2 years "plausible").
Hayes's thesis: central banks eventually print, and asset prices rise despite the fear.
Caveat: it's a thesis, not a forecast. Past cycles don't guarantee the next one. Not financial advice.

In the beginning of a mega bull run the market must climb a wall of worry.
2017 - block size wars
2020 - Covid
2023 - FTX collapse and rising central bank policy rates
2026 - AI encryption FUD
Money shall be printed, bags shall pump.
Vitalik Buterin is not "against AI". He's warning that AI-accelerated math could threaten crypto security sooner than quantum computers.
What he said (replying to Justin Drake's "bunker mode" post):
1. A cryptography break by AI in ~2 years is "plausible"
2. It could hit even lattice-based schemes considered quantum-safe
3. Hash-based cryptography looks more resilient, but isn't immune in theory
4. Addresses that never sent a transaction hide the public key, so they're safer in some scenarios
5. No need to panic or rush: a hasty migration can cost you funds
Counterpoint: BitGo CEO Mike Belshe rejects the claim that AI will break Bitcoin's cryptography.
Takeaway: not a reason to move everything today, but a reason for the industry to prepare.

π¨ Telegram Desktop one-click account takeover (CVE-2026-107181)
A crafted tg:// link with unescaped semicolons injects records into the app's internal IPC. The interpret: handler then uploads local files, including tdata session keys, to an attacker-controlled channel. With the session keys, the attacker takes over your account.
CVSS 8.6 (High)
Affected: Telegram Desktop 7.2.8 and earlier
Fixed: 7.2.9
What to do:
1. Update Telegram Desktop to 7.2.9+
2. Don't open tg:// links from unknown sources
3. Check Settings β Devices and terminate sessions you don't recognize
4. Set a cloud password (2FA)

π¨π³ China keeps buying gold: 23 months in a row
In September, the People's Bank of China added 740,000 oz (~23 tonnes) to its reserves, worth roughly $3.1B at current prices.
That's the biggest monthly purchase since 2023, up from 650,000 oz in August.
π Total holdings now: 77.47M oz (~2,410 tonnes)
The key detail: Beijing kept buying even as gold dropped more than 6% in September. The PBOC has actually stepped up purchases as prices fell.
China isn't alone. In a World Gold Council survey of 74 central banks, 45% said they plan to add gold over the next year, the highest share since the survey began in 2018.

Abstract is shutting down. If you ever used it, check your wallet now.
Abstract, the Ethereum L2 built by Pudgy Penguins' parent company Igloo, announced it will close on December 15, 2026. Funds not bridged out by then will become inaccessible.
What Abstract says:
- Users should bridge assets off the network via the Migration Hub or the Native Bridge (the latter carries a three-hour delay)
- The team cited an unsustainable standalone consumer-crypto model, thin liquidity and a limited DeFi ecosystem
- Its engineering and ecosystem team will help Abstract-based projects migrate to other chains
- Users are warned to stay alert to scams during the wind-down
Who this concerns:
Everyone who has ever used Abstract: traded, minted, farmed, played Cambria or tested apps. Small leftover balances are easy to forget, and after December 15 they are gone.
What to do:
1. Check your Abstract balance
2. Bridge out everything that remains
3. Do it well before the deadline
Check balance: https://t.co/9GlvS3fR2S
Third-party bridge option (Relay): https://t.co/D7gPTQLm6s
Always verify links before connecting a wallet. Scammers target users during shutdowns.
Polymarket vs. Hyperliquid: a new revenue comparison
Polymarket's CMO published a comparison of Polymarket and Hyperliquid revenue for September weekends. Notably, the comparison was framed through the lens of the tokens: $HYPE and the yet-to-launch $POLY.
Shortly after, CEO Shayne Coplan said he has more to share on the topic at Token2049 in Singapore.
What we know:
- The POLY token has been confirmed by the team earlier
- No official launch or airdrop date has been announced
- The exact methodology behind the revenue comparison should be checked in the original post
We'll be watching Token2049 for further details.

Why does the market keep stopping you out?
BTC has been stuck in a tight range. Every move looks like the start of a trend, then price snaps back and takes your stop.
It's not you, it's the regime.
In a trend, the market forgives late entries, extra risk, even emotional trades. In a range, the same setup fails, even if it follows every rule. Ranges are full of fake breakouts, and stops sit right behind obvious levels.
So first ask: what phase is this?
No trend = smaller size, fewer trades, or close the terminal.
You'll miss some moves either way. Staring at the chart all day won't change that.
Blast is shutting down: withdraw your funds by October 26
https://t.co/XIFlaSCezH
The Blast team has announced it will wind down the chain, saying the cost of running it exceeds the revenue it generates and there is no credible path to making it sustainable. The team apologized to users and developers who built on and supported the ecosystem.
All users are asked to withdraw their assets, including balances in the Blast PWA, to Ethereum mainnet. The withdrawal delay is being cut to 24 hours, but there is a catch: the team will first unwind Blast's Lido assets, which should take about a week, and withdrawals will be paused during that time. After that, withdrawals resume with the 24-hour delay.
The normal Blast interface works until October 26, 2026. After that, assets stay withdrawable, but only by interacting directly with the Blast bridge contracts on Ethereum L1, and detailed instructions will be published beforehand.
You can also bridge out via Relay: https://t.co/FfEqJuN9ls. Don't wait until the last day.
