When you continually avoid investing anything of any note into your two lines, this is what happens. You can’t win a big game and you can’t win in the cold because you can’t do things that good teams do because you can’t pass protect and you can’t open holes in the run game.
Lot of people will disagree and that's fine but the biggest problem for Miami in 2024 thus far is the fact they put 3 years of investment into Skylar Thompson as the guy who would step in when/if Tua gets injured.
That decision has been a stunning failure, and everything else seems to flow off that.
The offense was pathetic against the Titans, but most of the failure could be traced to starting a QB who just got there 2 weeks ago. That's not comparable to other situations around the league where a backup who was there for all of training camp and the entire season has taken over and the team is able to continue winning.
Could the coach have made some more adjustments to try and make this easier? Of course. But again, that means the original sin which started it all is the fact that they groomed Skylar Thompson for 3 years thinking he could run this offense and then when he got his chance he looked like someone who should not be in the NFL.
They don't have an Andy Dalton or a Sam Darnold because (as laughable as this sounds, in hindsight) Skylar Thompson was purported to be their Andy Dalton or Sam Darnold. And that evaluation was so off the mark that it's fair to question the credibility of those who made the evaluation.
But most everything else has been the quicksand effect. It's like a successful 1st down run play being called back on a holding penalty, so you call call a screen on 1st & 20 to try and make up some of those yards but the DL sniffs it out, you end up 3rd & 17 and throw an interception. Mistakes all along the way, but they all flowed off unfavorable circumstances created by the original mistake.
One really, really bad judgment puts you out of rhythm, and then you have a tough time trying to dig yourself out. They're learning the hard way that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
The narratives that Tua was only succeeding because of Mcdaniel’s genius or that anyone can ball out in the offence because waddle and hill are running wide open all day are beyond dead
Love when someone says all you gotta do is take away Tua's 1st read.
Miami's is one of the few offenses that can get the ball out yet still push it downfield.
Taking away their 1st read isn't a secret formula. It's saying to beat Michael Phelps, just force him to swim on land.
I don't care what anyone say this is one of the greatest music videos/ film I have ever seen next you Kanye west Runaway music video film and childish Gambino Because the Internet short film "clapping for the wrong reasons". People tend to look for how the music sounds and what it's about but forget to actually feel it. And Dijon is probably the most underrated artist of our time at this moment, and is not talked about enough. His performance in this album, and his video is the definition of a music artist. I don't even want to debate about it just watch this video from the beginning to the end.
