We are devastated to learn of the passing of Kevin Keegan, one of the most iconic, influential and deeply loved figures in our club’s history.
Kevin was more than a legendary footballer and manager. He was the beating heart of Newcastle United for generations of supporters.
🤍 🕊️ A statement on behalf of Kevin Keegan’s family:
“It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.
“Kevin had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.
“A double Ballon D’or winner, Kevin was a much loved husband, father and grandfather.
“The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support.
“This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.”

So, in the end, they fell without a fight.
Not one true effort, not one shot in sight.
Just noise and fury, chest-beating and show,
Yet nowhere left for football’s craft to go.
They chased the referee more than the ball,
Mistook dark arts for greatness after all.
For every tumble, every feigned despair,
The game itself was left a little poorer there.
And when the whistle drew the curtain closed,
There was no glory in the path they chose.
For medals tarnish, scorelines fade away,
But character is measured every day.
So home they go, defeated in the end -
Without the pride that should a champion attend.
For victory borrowed through deception’s guise
Wins trophies, perhaps… but never wins the wise.
Tonight the football world breathes easier still.
Not out of malice, but because, at last,
The spirit of the game outlived the spectacle.
At the start of the World Cup, there was talk that Jude Bellingham shouldn't start for England. 🦁
He's just become the first midfielder in history to score 7 goals in a single World Cup. 👏
