@metsbatflip1 Bichette would likely opt out imo. The lockout makes the situation questionable. But in no way is it likelier he opts in. Hes gonna b 29 nxt yr w 84 mil left on his contract. Hes prob going to get 200 mil if he opts out. Also I would expect Clifford on the roster at 1B nxt yr
@SNY_Mets@chelsea_janes Its beyond ridiculous to think Baty will b a lineup staple. We've all seen enough to knw he dsnt have it. Idc how many positions he plays, that dsnt matter if he can't hit. The guy is a AAA all-star at best. Vientos needs to go too. Both are awful. Time to move on from both
@Masterflip_ Lindor will not widen the lineup by much. As long as Baty and/or Vientos are in the lineup everyday we're a sub .500 team. Only thing this changes is the lineup from 5 down is still a problem rather than from 4 down. Too many inconsistent bats and rotation arms to believe
@Weerd_Science@SleeperMets@BNightengale Hes 29. His background and success over his career won't derail his ability to get a long term substantial deal whatsoever. No matter how this season goes. Not the AAV. But hes a 200 plus mil guy especially at his age. The CBA issues may keep him here another season but doubtful
@Masterflip_ This deal was made for him to opt out. Hes 29 and is gonna make more than the 84 mil thats left on his deal. I really don't understand why ppl are struggling to understand this. It has nothing to do w his season or his feelings towards the team. Its a smart business decision
@HoffWFAN Its not necessary to win 90 games to make the playoffs. That number is around 85. Which is doable. I haven't seen enough that tells me this group can pull off what the '24 group did. Certainly dsnt feel like it. We will see. But 85 should b the mark
@JakeBrownLive Im curious why we dont feel the same towards Baty. Vientos arrogance and lack of accountability bothers me just as much as his play. But we never get these takes on Baty. Hes been awful. Hes never put together a full solid season. Can't say thay about Vientos or Alvarez
@TheMetsX Im at peace w this. The Royals were the better team. The Mets got hot at the right time which carried them to the WS. But in no way will anyone convince me the Mets were going back to KC and winning 2. Royals capitalized on our mistakes and made very few. The better team won
@Masterflip_ Baty and Vientos in the lineup everyday is terrible. Obviously Bo goes to 3rd when Lindor comes back. Maybe they do a platoon w Vientos and Baty at first cuz Polonco will b the full time DH. To say a team that went to the NLCS w great chemistry is less than this team is a stretch
@SleeperMets Bichette will b 29 yrs old to start the 27 season. No way does he NOT opt out. He can have a shitty season and STILL make more in overall value than he has left remaining on the 2 yr deal if he chooses to stay. I don't see the financial benefit of not opting out
@AnthonyDiComo We knw that Anthony. But the mistake happened when they decided to retain him after last season. To fire him now makes the FO look like bigger idiots than they already are. Regardless, the right move, warranted or not, is to fire Mendoza. The 3-6 homestand should send him packing
@DanClarkSports I laugh everytime someone tries to act like players give a shit where there at. He signed for the money. Thats it. And if u think hes not opting out and won't get a longer term or the same short deal at his age then u clearly have no clue. Hes in complete control
@nickythegood Peralta not being able to go 6 is a problem and having a lead bigger than 1 has nothing to do w how inefficient he his w his pitches. Lorenzen starts the 6th w 58 pitches and Peralta starts the inning w 80. Hes gone 6 inn once this yr. Not good enough considering hes a top guy
@JMincone Theres too much invested in Stearns for him to get fired. With that being said, if this trend continues, hes responsible for the downfall of this team. Mendy isn't the problem here. But he will take the fall
@Ben_Yoel Can't really defend Stearns when he contradicts himself. Can't preach run prevention then sign players to play out of position. Polonco should only DH. His refusal of recognizing Pete as a valuable asset is beyond comprehension. Bullpen is a mess. Maybe its u that's ignorant
@bunnnytiger Bcuz they wanna turn everything into politics. And everyone now is a political analyst. Not to mention a lot of ppl on social media and in person aren't happy unless their miserable. Theres very little appreciation for anything or anyone anymore
@MetsMuse Neither. I have no way to identify this team yet. Im sure not doing it on April 14th. I need to see more. My first evaluation of a team won't come til around memorial weekend. Thats about a third of the season. Thats a good sample size to knw what u have
