I haven’t completely lost my marbles guys... This area is sacred, and the crocodiles in Bakau, Gambia have been tamed spiritually, and are not sedated. The expansive baobab tree is found within the forest of the crocodile pool. It blocks negative energy and promotes blessings.

Ganvié Village built on water. Discovered in 1717 by the Tado people of Togo, this village was built to avoid further intra-tribal warfare. Fishing is a major way of life, and all other services are available within the village to provide the inhabitants with their daily needs.

Exploring the cenotes of Tulum. These are underground freshwater caves that are connected, and lead to the ocean. Ancient Mayans used the cenotes as a portal to speak with the gods, and for sacrificial offerings. A very cool experience.

The town of Palenque, about an hour out from Cartagena, is a must visit. African slaves who were able to escape the Spanish were able to create a new community here, with their original traditions. A mixture of both Bantu and Swahili are spoken still to this day. #travel #blog
