@duncandee@ezralevant $1T? That’s $1B per kilometre! One of the biggest unknowns is how much of the route will require expensive engineering works rather than running along relatively straightforward surface alignments. That detail will have a huge effect on the final price. It’s a little early.
@ShiDavidi It’s still possible he attempts a comeback after surgery and rehab (some pitchers have returned from TOS), but the combination of age, repeated setbacks, and the nature of the diagnosis makes a sustained MLB career continuation improbable. Doesn’t have team to rehab with.
@ArdenZwelling Yeah, that was a pretty obvious outcome from what we saw and his description of what he felt. My only concern is what modifications to his pitching mechanics will be necessary to avoid this injury from reoccurring and other injuries to his hips/arms/shoulders.
@JHughes681@MarshaIIZach@EdwardSRogers@MarkShapiro To me, Yesavage is a case in point. I don’t know what idiot taught that kid how to pitch but his mechanics put a lot of pressure on his arm, hips, and left knee. As he grew into a man’s body, you would have to be superman to overcome injuries. He’s going to have a short career.
@KeeganMatheson This could be Iliotibial (IT) band or other soft-tissue irritation that creates a snapping/pinching sensation and momentary instability. Otherwise it would suggest a Meniscus tear or flap injury, or worse. One would think he’s going to miss significant time either way.
@libraryowl@BlueJays Bichette’s reported asking range earlier (around $240–300M long-term in some chatter) or preference for opt-out-heavy, high-AAV deals didn’t align with Toronto’s valuation or plans. The Phillies reportedly offered something like 7 years/$200M. Only the Mets we’re stupid enough.
@KeeganMatheson A meniscus problem, ligament sprain, patellar tendon issue, or cartilage problem can cause a sudden “giving way” sensation like that. If not resolved, could not only affect performance but lead to arm injuries. I’ve seen this many times in college baseball.
