Mysaria knows how to survive and has every opportunity to disappear. Every day she stays with Rhaenyra is another day she could’ve chosen survival instead. That’s why I can’t see her loyalty as anything but personal. Mysaria is in love with that woman, through the highs and lows
And it’s not just the “my.” It’s also that Rhaenyra doesn’t wait for Mysaria to defend her own place in the room. She immediately affirms it herself. Rhaesaria Nation keeps on eating.
Rhaenyra questions Corlys on whether he “trusts” the word of Orwyle, Mysaria responds that Orwyle “does not know,” and Daemon retorts, saying that “no one asked you.” Rhaenyra responds to this, stating that, “It is the duty of my Mistress of Whisperers to advise me.”
“Mysaria is maybe the first truly romantic connection”
“I love that they start off in a place of conflict [and] deeply suspicious of one another… this attraction is a matter of being seen in a way that’s completely new.”
— Emma D’arcy on Rhaenyra and Mysaria
@WtDasoiaf And if we are going to speculate about the direction of the story, let’s not forget that in the end, Mysaria helps Rhaenyra escape to survive, and she pays for it with her life. Doesn’t sound like betrayal or disloyalty to me but that’s just me
@WtDasoiaf In my opinion, Mysaria speaking the truth or if she walks away wouldn’t make her a traitor. It just means she stayed true to what made her believe in Rhaenyra in the first place.
