@nathersjones@bryonycdc 100%. everyoneโs circumstances are different but for me personally, choosing to become a parent means youโve accepted that there is a chance that your child could be disabled & that you should already be prepared for anything
@1874dan hmm yeah. obviously itโs the parents choice at the end of the day, everyone has different circumstances so canโt really judge. i just think itโs sad - people with DS are some of the happiest people
@1874dan yeah i understand that but surely when you decide to become a parent youโre accepting the chance that they could have a disability? if the child had a really awful quality of life then fairs but most down syndrome people do live happy, healthy & fulfilling lives
@bryonycdc yeah ofc they can, itโs their choice. i just think itโs sad๐ personally i just think it adds to the stigma of disabilities. people with down syndrome live happy n fulfilling lives & choosing to be a parent means you accept that as a chance
@bryonycdc also, anyone can become disabled at any point in their lives. would you fee okay with a parent abandoning their child if they became disabled at 10 years old for example?
itโs just sad. being disabled doesnโt make them any less of a joy
@bryonycdc deciding to be a parent means youโre accepting the chance that they could have a disability though imo. if you arenโt prepared to care for your child despite being disabled then you arenโt ready to be a parent tbh
