Blessed winter solstice

Now is a good time to reflect, what do you welcome back into your life?
What can stay in the dark?

Blessed be.

Halloween is a time to remember what exists beyond the veil of everyday reality.

What did you do to celebrate this sweet Samhain?

October’s full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon, Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon, because animals were traditionally hunted and slaughtered at this time of year.

Blessed be.

The autumn equinox is the perfect moment of balance between light and darkness, as day and night become equal in length. Summer warmth and abundance is turning to cooler days and a pull inwards as we travel towards winter.

Today’s Full Grain Moon is also a rare Super Blue Moon - the fourth full moon of the summer, and closer than usual to earth.
At this time of year grain crops are being harvested, in preparation for the winter. The days are shortening and autumn doesn’t seem so far away.

Lammas is derived from the Old English "hlafmaesse" meaning Loaf Mass, when it was time to celebrate the first wheat harvest. It was traditional to create a corn dolly from the first sheafs of corn, which was kept as a charm to ensure a good harvest for the next year.

Did you know?

The May full moon is called the Flower Moon because it coincides with the time of year when flowers typically bloom most abundantly. This name likely originated with Native American cultures who observed this natural phenomenon.

Tonight heralds the zenith of the full pink moon - a time when spring growth is high and the land is burgeoning with every shade of green.

It’s a great time to utilise the powerful astrological energies to uncover hidden truths.

What are you hiding from? Why?

There is some weird ass energy abroad today.
What with this new pink moon coinciding with the solar eclipse..

What went well last month?
What didn’t, and what can you get rid of?
What new energy can you bring to the coming times?

The worm moon rose into our sky early today, representing the renewal of life and the awakening of worms. The name comes from traditional peoples in Northern America, who noticed that as the hardened winter soil thawed the earthworm casts began to appear.

Did you see the Full Harvest #SuperMoon rising a few days ago? It was magical, and totally impossible to photograph on my phone as we drove across the Kent Downs to our little home cradled in the valley.

This moon rises close to the Autumnal equinox, or #Mabon.

Last night was a rare Super Blue Moon, being the second super moon in August this year. If you were lucky enough to see it you will have revelled in the gigantic size and creamy hue, making it appear supernaturally close to the earth, especially just after moon rise.

The blackberries are coming!

Did you know that blackberry leaf can be used to send evil away?

The leaves can be used to dress magic candles, stuff poppets, in healing spells or to create a herbal brew.

Blessed Lammas…

As the summer reaches its zenith (a watery one this year, it would seem!) we celebrate Lammas. It’s a great time to offer thanks for the abundance of the earth, and the harvests that are taking shape across the land.

I love this time of year!
And it’s hot! The grass is high, and the bramble flowers are blooming abundantly, foretelling a number crop of blackberries.

Blessed #Imbolc.

Last week my children celebrated #Candlemas at school, warming the earth with a beautiful candle circle.
This weekend we celebrated Imbolc and the full #snowmoon by spending some time thinking about what we want for this coming year.

Blessed New Year.
Today marks the start of the #Celtic New Year following #Samhain celebrations, when the veil between the living and the dead is at its frailest and mortals commune with deceased ancestors. Samhain falls halfway between the autumn equinox and winter solstice.

And so the wheel turns….
Blessed Mabon, it’s time for the changing of the seasons, a time of transition with 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night as the days grow colder and darker and we draw down into the winter months. #equinox #autumn #mabon #ritual #yew #yewberry
