The movies are connected because they're happening in the same universe, but that doesn't mean that each movie has to be setting up some huge event down the line.
I don't know why it's so hard for people to grasp that simple idea.
The concept of a one-shot has always existed in comics: it's a self-contained story, it's happening in the same universe, but it's not part of some big event.
Some people are just dense.

Which of these Fall 2026 games have you played so far?

Is it just me, or is it crazy how publishers completely overstuffed the Fall schedule just to stay away from GTA 6?

We got Marvel's Wolverine, Gears of War, Onimusha, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control: Resonant, Phantom Blade Zero, and Castlevania, all crammed into a two-month window.

My wallet needs a wallet now!

Was compressing all these releases into a few weeks the wrong move? Or was running away from Rockstar unavoidable? A lot of these seem to have a very different target audience to GTA 6.
