The Sumerian King List describes rulers before a massive flood whose reigns stretch for TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

One reign is listed at roughly 40,000 years.

Then comes the flood and afterward, the reign lengths eventually collapse toward numbers that look far more familiar.

Or were the Sumerians trying to describe a world before some catastrophic event that we no longer understand?

Then Joe goes even further: flood stories appear across multiple ancient cultures, including the biblical tradition.
