Them: "Clear your space of all distractions"
Me: "okay!"
👀My eyes: darting around the room looking for novelty
🖐️My hands: need to fidget, pull on hair in absence of other objects
🦵My leg: shaking
🧠My brain: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS MAMBO NUMBER FIVE
playing empire state of mind while wheeling out the kind of trash bin that every other major u.s. city has had for forever and calling it a revolution is taking me out
@ADHDdesigner "I need to stop putting out fires and work on making my house fireproof - and I'm going to do that! ...as soon as I finish putting out all these fires" – me, constantly
Needed to read this today. My heart is breaking for the family and friends of beloved dancer and artist tWitch 💔 May his memory be a blessing 🙏
(And remember: in the US, dialing 988 will get you to the suicide and crisis lifeline)
A parasocial relationship refers to the connectedness we feel to celebrities or public icons we’ve never met.
It’s MORE than OKAY to feel deep pain when someone inspiring passes.
There is NO shame in grieving someone you knew from afar.
I’m in pain. #Twitch you will be missed.
@WhatTheADHD - weighted blanket
- membership to a museum they love
- find out what their Sensory Good materials are and get them a pillow/pillowcase/blanket in that material
- course/subscription for a hyperfocus
- storage for something they have a lot of, display case/shelf for a collection
There’s a lot of misinformation, but here are the facts:
1. #BarnesAndNoble is refusing to stock most authors on shelves
2. It disproportionately affects marginalized authors, debuts, & MG

Yes, it's over a year old, but this tweet has been turning up in several #neurodivergent and #adhd FB groups lately, and I have some ✨Things To Say✨ about it.
Because on a certain level this is true – but it leaves out some *crucial* details... (1/17)
A big misconception is that you need to be motivated to get rolling.
You don't.
Research: Motivation often FOLLOWS action, not the other way around.
In Practice: You don't need to feel good to get going; you need to get going to give yourself a chance at feeling good.
@grumpyshrubbery NOW I WANT TO GOOGLE DERMOID CYST
I'M COMMENTING HERE IN THE HOPES THAT BY THE TIME I FINISH TWEETING THIS I WILL FORGET WHAT I WAS GOING TO GOOGLE
@grumpyshrubbery Also shout out to my fellow "see results" people who didn't realize it was a poll option and simply fell victim to classic ADHD ooo-what-does-this-button-do syndrome 😅
@grumpyshrubbery I'd heard of most of these things individually but I'd never heard them called "Adderall tongue"! 🤯
My main med-mouth-thing is DRY MOUTH. I know it's dehydration (because stims make body processes go faster, incl processing agua) but no matter how much I drink I can't keep up!
Join me this weekend (July 2-3) at @EternalConExpo. I’ll be there with @ComicBookSchool, facilitating two panels: and interactive character workshop (co hosted with @mywritinghero) on Saturday, and a dialogue workshop on Sunday. Hope to see you there.

Oh hey, @EternalConExpo! @TheSurrealAri and I are BACK with @ComicBookSchool for our patent-pending* character creation workshop ✏️🦸♀️🤓
*It's not patent-pending, but it IS awesome - and happening this Saturday at 3pm in Panel Room 2!
Let's stop pretending that motivation, willpower, discipline, and dedication are character traits completely divorced from brain chemistry.
And let's stop asking our brains to run according to someone else's user manual.
(17/end) #adhd#neurodivergent#adhdtwitter
From a neurological perspective, the original tweet's statement is true: the NT reward system makes a brain "feel good" after one has "gotten going" – but that same system *also* provides dopamine even before the Going Gets Got. And the same cannot be said for ND brains. (16/17)
