"Because of mama, I've always tried to have a good heart." ❤️
This story has me in tears. A young Dolly Parton saw her mama crying and wanted to give her the little present she had just been given.😭
From Country Music Tunes
many believe Dolly Parton's song 9 to 5 was titled after the movie or the standard workday, but the song and the movie were actually named after and inspired by the 9 to 5 movement which was the first mass women organisation for womens rights in the workplace.
One of my favorite Dolly Parton lyrics gets at the way that in America, there is immense shame connected with being poor, and also immense pride in having been poor.
Dolly Parton, her parents and siblings doing a version of “In The Pines” in 1976, a song long associated with Lead Belly but whose origins predate him…likely came out of a hodgepodge mix of songs from Southern Appalachia.
Roscoe Holcomb, a coal miner turned Appalachian folk musician who gained fame during the 1960s, sang in a similar style and register. I think he had great style, both in terms of his music and dress.
Never forget that RFK Jr. testified in his divorce proceedings that he couldn’t afford alimony because he was so brain damaged he couldn’t hold a job.
Anyway, now he’s the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
While Ohioans can't afford healthcare, Elon Musk just handed over 5 million dollars to my opponent. I'm sick of billionaires who want to exploit my state.
Sorry to miss Fancy Farm today, but let me get in on the fun. Rand Paul apparently said I’d been “neutered” by my legislature. Rich coming from a guy who’s never had a pair of balls and if he did they’d be held by Trump. 1/4
so frightening! after this terrible "president" is gone, even if a Democrat is elected, how can so many executives orders be overturned, & how many would come too late to save lives?
it seems that virtually every protection for consumers & citizens is being overturned. some consequences are immediate, like food poisoning & measles; others will be undetectable for months or years, like radioactive waste near human habitations.
it was so very hard to get these protections into law, dating back to Jimmy Carter's administration; recall the litigation involving Love Canal... even after young children were dying of leukemia, & women were having miscarriages, in abnormally high numbers, there was political resistance to acknowledging the disaster zone in Niagara Falls.
