Gukurahundi was and is a genocide, and for it to be addressed, we have to treat it as such. Perpetrators must tell their side of the story: why they did what they did. They must acknowledge what they did and be held accountable for it. Victims must share their experiences. There must be truth-telling from both sides. Victims must state how and what they want done to address the issue. The state and its institutions must be held accountable; how did innocent civilians go through brutality under its watch? Why didn't it protect its citizens?
The goal is to achieve justice in its various forms (restorative, reparative, etc.). You can perform traditional or religious rituals, but that won't address the genocide on its own. We must learn from other countries in Africa that share similar experiences and then craft interventions to suit our local context. Icala kaliboli.

If the UK can demand English tests for its workers, why canโt Bulawayo demand Ndebele? People are dying because nurses and doctors canโt understand them. Language is not just culture, itโs survival. #SpeakOurLanguage#StopMisdiagnosis
The only Zimbabwean national party where anyone could be a leader is ZAPU.
ZANUPF is a Karanga/Zezuru party, where other ethnic groups are merely accommodated.
The opposition has not been different!
The main objection to Thokozani Khupe taking over was ethnicity.
Ndebeles are only relevant to these political parties when it is election time.
The unification of ZANU and ZAPU in 1979 failed because the Shonas believed they could go it alone.
Josiah Tongogara was killed because he wanted unity.
The Zimbabwe National Army has always been run by Zezurus and Karangas.
The Manyikas have been badly treated too, there has never been a Manyika in the presidential team.
I know many donโt want to hear this, but that is the truth!!
