We got flooded w rightwingers that even over a week ago were voting it down based on it being about "shoplifting". However, they had no problem w movies about bank robberies or mafia movies.
@michaeloburns@TomSteyer Imagine a public bank that loaned everything at a fixed non-compounded rate. You borrow $100000 for 3 years, you pay back 20% for a total of $120k, instead of being forced to pay back a total amount greater than the original loan, maybe many multiples of
Did YOU want to watch CCTV's AI Martial Arts cartoon about the Straits of Hormuz crisis? Complete with fighting Persian Cats? Well I subtitled it for you so you can enjoy it in all its trope-laden glory! Remember kids, the mountains will stay standing while the green water flows, and the true art of war is not figuring out how to fight, but how to stop!🥷😼🦅
@NoaDalzell@NIKNBAYT Part of the reason I ask it is that it looks like he's coming back with no mental rust, and to be doing that in the last quarter of the season compared to the other players is just outrageous, his game speed mentally
@NoaDalzell@NIKNBAYT Would really love it if you or someone with access could ask JT what he's learned about basketball, perhaps coaches perspectives, or other greater (or smaller!) realizations about the game as a result of doing all the film and practices but having to sit out the games?
An Iranian man left this comment on my YouTube channel. This is without a doubt the single best explanation of the reality facing Iranian people today👇
"As an Iranian, I can tell you the situation is no longer just political—it's existential. We are trapped between two collapsing structures: one internal, one external. On one hand, we face a deeply dysfunctional government, led by the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Republic’s unelected institutions.
Decades of economic mismanagement, suppression of dissent, and brutal ideological control have alienated multiple generations. No one believes in reform anymore—because every attempt has either been co-opted or crushed. But here's the paradox: We are also terrified of regime collapse—because we've watched the aftermath of Western intervention in countries like Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan. Each was promised freedom; each descended into chaos, civil war, or foreign occupation.
So no, we don't trust the U.S. or Israel. Not because we support our regime—but because we know how imperial powers treat ‘liberated’ nations in the Middle East.
Freedom, in their language, often means vacuum, fire, and permanent instability. Right now, many Iranians live with three truths at once: The Islamic Republic is morally and politically bankrupt. The alternatives offered by foreign actors are not liberation—they’re collapse.
A bad government is survivable. No government is not. We are not silent because we agree. We are cautious because we’ve learned—too well—what happens when superpowers decide to "help." In a sentence: Iran is a nation held hostage by its own regime, but haunted by the fate of its neighbors. We are stuck in a house we hate, surrounded by fires we fear more."
@HaitiJustice@dieworkwear besides the people noting the stuff available inside a mile of walking, you also are just a half block away from a free DASH bus that comes by every 15 minutes during the day time, which makes Hillhurst (now with 15% more hipster eateries) and Vermont even more accessible
Sad news: Lance Alspaugh owner of the Los Feliz 3 has died. He also owned the Vista Theater up until 2021. The Los Feliz 3 will continue to operate with others in management stepping up. RIP
