Porcine-derived materials are common in urology. Most patients don’t know. Most clinicians don’t bring it up.

For Muslim and Jewish patients, this gap matters.

Our review covers what’s used, what Islamic and Jewish law actually say, and how to have this conversation.

Excited to share that our review on overactive bladder and poor bladder compliance was published today in Current Bladder Dysfunction Reports.

These two conditions are often discussed separately, but in practice they frequently overlap and can really change how we evaluate and manage patients.

In this review, we outline a shared clinical framework between the two, covering:
- Pathophysiology and urodynamics
- Behavioral and pharmacologic therapy
- Botulinum toxin and neuromodulation
- Reconstructive options
- Emerging regenerative and antifibrotic approaches

Grateful to have worked with an incredible team at @USC_Urology and the @USD Sanford School of Medicine on this project, and thankful for the mentorship that made this project possible.

In 2016, I was a first-generation Pakistani-American community college student starting out at @NorcoCollege, trying to navigate the road ahead with limited guidance and a lot of ambition.

In 2025, I returned as a medical student to speak with students now walking a similar path.

We talked about breaking out of your shell, staying one step ahead, and the importance of taking initiative—especially when the blueprint isn’t always clear.

Two takeaways I shared: Fortune favors the prepared mind, and the most meaningful journeys are the ones that leave a trail behind.

We explored how AI is reshaping clinical skills training, personalized learning, and assessment—while also addressing ethical concerns and implementation challenges.

Earlier this week, I visited Colton High School as part of my work with @CUSMedicine and the Health Career Collaborative. The Intuitive Foundation—an organization committed to expanding access to surgical innovation and inspiring future healthcare leaders—partnered with us to give students hands-on experience with the Da Vinci 5 surgical robot and the Ion robotic bronchoscopy system.

Watching them crowd around the consoles, ask thoughtful questions, and genuinely get excited about surgery was incredible—especially in a region where these kinds of opportunities haven’t always existed.

Proud of the students, grateful to the Intuitive team for being so welcoming, and excited to help keep this kind of access and inspiration growing.

Had the chance to present a few posters at AUA 2025 and connect with a lot of incredible people!

From seeing the latest in robotics to hearing international perspectives and meeting people pushing new ideas forward, the energy throughout the conference was contagious. It’s an exciting time to be learning about where the field is headed.
