In a recent interview yesterday, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly did not hold back when asked about the fallout from Enzo Fernández’s goal celebration during Argentina’s World Cup semi-final victory over England.
“We will have to suspend Enzo Fernández and maybe loan him out of Chelsea because we have received several racist gossip from the locker room as well,”
Boehly stated. “We have no choice but to suspend him. He did not just disrespect our team he disrespected England as a whole.”
Boehly emphasised that the decision was not taken lightly, citing both external pressure and reported unease within the dressing room as key factors forcing the club’s hand.
