They are not. Avalanche architecture works great for L2 deployments, if you really need one.

App chains, no matter what name they go by, are completely worthless without having a large pool of diverse validators.

It’s always been possible to launch a blockchain running off a single computer.

Without #Avalanche consensus, you don’t really have anything.

#Optimism is doing app chains now.

They're calling them 'Superchains' which is a riff off of 'Supernets' which was Poly's rebranding of Edge once #Subnets started taking off.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but don't say 'live on mainnet' if it runs on one server.

1/ I think there is a major misalignment of incentives in crypto right now. The scaling vision for the largest smart contract platform (#Ethereum) skews towards centralization, and theres little-to-no incentive to build on anything else.
