I think the healthiest and probably most realistic approach of most people in actuality seems to be to “hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” I agree that people should try to maximize their potential in whatever it is they choose to do, but to not do so expecting greatness. Expecting greatness will necessarily result in disappointment for most people given that only few can be truly great.
