JUSTICE MBUYISELI MADLANGA'S JOURNEY

■ Born in a rural village of Njinji outside Mount Frere in the Eastern Cape on 27 March 1962.
■ Matriculated at Mariazell High School in Matatiele.
■ Got his BJuris at University of Transkei. Got his LLB at Rhodes University.
■ Lectured part time at Rhodes while working for the Department of Justice to fulfill bursary obligations. They paid fees for his LLB.
■ He then lectured full time for two years at Rhodes.
■ Graduated with an LLM Degree in Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Cum Laude, from University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA.
■ He did his internship at Amnesty International at the Washington DC Office, USA.
■ Came back to South Africa and completed pupillage at the Johannesburg Bar. Went to practice at the Mthatha Bar.

■ In 1996, at the age of 34, he was appointed as a Judge of the Mthatha High Court, becoming the youngest Judge at the time.
■ At the age of 37, he was appointed Acting Judge of Appeal at the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.

Three young cyclists from a BMX club in Limpopo have just finished their epic journey to Cape Town. They've been capturing hearts with their cross-country ride from Burgersfort to the Mother City. Gauta Mahlakoane, Karabo Mokoo and Maxwell Ndou are on a mission to raise funds and awareness for their community bike club, which offers young people an alternative to crime and drugs. #Newzroom405

Limpopo cyclists’ bicycles ride to Cape Town sparks wave of national support and sponsorship

What began as a dream powered by grit and second-hand bicycles has become a national movement. Three young men from Burgersfort, Limpopo, Gauta Mahlakoane, Karabo Mokoo, and Maxwell Ndou are cycling an incredible 1,700km to Cape Town, driven by a mission to inspire South African youth and promote healthy living. Along the way, their journey has captured hearts and opened wallets.

A wave of support has followed them across provinces. A generous Good Samaritan stunned the trio with a R200,000 donation, while Tubatse Business Entrepreneurs pledged R30,000 towards their cause. Red Bull South Africa stepped in as a major sponsor, providing gear, nutrition, and logistical assistance.

Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels contributed R20,000 for accommodation during the final leg of the trip. Local fashion house Matenji Boutique donated clothing, food, and essentials. Princemed EMS is offering ongoing medical support, and Raleigh South Africa serviced the cyclists’ bikes during their journey to ensure they remain road-ready.

The Lephalale Mayor has also thrown his support behind the initiative, and Limpopo wealthy businessman Morgan Mohlala made an undisclosed financial contribution. In Cape Town, KFC has committed to hosting the cyclists with a sponsored lunch, while a hotel group and DJ Karri arranged accommodation in both Cape Town and Soweto, as well as flights back to Gauteng.

With more sponsors and donations still pouring in, the young cyclists have not only proven their endurance but ignited a nationwide movement rooted in purpose, perseverance, and unity.
