Can the medical community please stop referring to #KawasakiDisease as #PIMS and just ask a parent who watched there child go through severe #KawasakiDisease and then face the long term heart damage and constant followup. Not all KD cases present the same and some are more severe
No I’m a parent who watched her child go through a serious illness called Kawasaki Disease where 5 medical doctors failed to diagnose which led to permanent heart damage when my son was 8 years old. I have spent 4 years researching and raising awareness to KD

@doctorsanjay Hugely value your measured and considered perspective here. Such worry has been caused in our community by unthinking “reports”, with confused content.

@AnnBlake2017 KD is not contagious and is more common that some strains of meningitis and is not rare either. I think there is an increase in cases as KD tends to spike in the spring. I’m not a doctor but a parent of a child who had KD 4 years ago and constantly research.
@piersmorgan@piersmorgan Kawasaki Disease is the No 1 cause to ACQUIRED heart disease in children in the U.K. and numbers have increased four fold in the last 10 years. KD is nothing new it’s not rare either and this is a case of Doctors thinking KD is rare and now they are looking for it
@Patrick66013298@Rebartic I’m a parent of a child who had KD and have researched endless on KD for four year. Everything I have read states that KD is not an autoimmune disease as it has a beginning and an end. Heart damage can be a result of misdiagnosis caused.
@HSJEditor From the offset of Covid 19 being referred to as a mystery illness blowing in the wind I thought of Kawasaki Disease straight away. My son had this 4 yrs ago and acquired heart disease. It’s no joke KD and is serious!!!
